Sprints (100-400m Dash)
Hurdles (100mH, 110mH, 300mH)
Distance (800m+)

Competitions: Track & Field competitions are called Track Meets where athlete get to compete against other schools in their event(s)!
Dates: February 3rd thru February 14th
Time: 4:00pm (Dressed and ready to begin warm ups)
Location: Helm Field, Meet in stands close to finish line
This year we will be hosting tryouts for the Track team. These tryouts will be Attendance-Based. This means during the two week tryout period athletes' attendance will be tracked and only those participants with 100% attendance at the end of the period will be permitted to continue practicing and eventually compete with Los Gatos High Schools' Track Team.
Athletes will be given an opportunity to train in any event group they want. However, coaches may ask athletes to change event groups to serve the needs of the team! Eventually, athlete will need to settle on 1 event group to stick with for the duration of the season.
Up-to-date Physical on file in Home Campus
Completed Home Campus Clearance
Completed Heart Screening (All grades)
This year coaches will be enforcing a dress code! If an athlete is in violation of this dress code they will be asked to change clothes. If athletes refuse to change they will be asked to leave practice.
All athletes must wear a full length top at all times (No exposed chest or abdomen)
This year coaches will be tracking attendance at practices and meets. The expectations for athletes are as follows:
Practice
Athlete are expected to be dressed and ready to begin warm ups at 4:00pm everyday. Athletes with a 7th period on Orange Days is the only exception.
Attendance will be taken by coaches at the beginning of each practice athletes are expected to be at the attendance call for their presence to be counted.
Athlete must attend 100% of practices
Tardiness to practice will be counted as an unexcused absence
Missing practice for an unexcused reason (e.g., notifying us of a medical illness may be excused, but simply not showing up is unexcused) will be counted as an unexcused absence.
Missing practice without notifying a coach in advance will result in an unexcused absence
If athletes do not attend school for any reason they are not permitted to practice
If an athlete misses more than one practice in a week, they will be scratched from following track meet
Competitions
Athletes must participate all competitions they are entered in. No Scratches unless done by a coach.
Athletes must arrive to a track meet at the time their coach designates. Tardiness may result an an athlete being scratched from their event.
Athletes are expected to stay at each meet for the duration of the meet (end of 4x400-meter relay)
(Updated 03/01) Athlete's who skip a League meet or scratch League meet event will be scratched by coaches from the next invitational meet.
Home Meets
Regardless of participation, all athletes are REQUIRED to stay at the track for the duration of any Home Track Meets to volunteer with field events and clean up
Varsity Qualifying Competitions
All athletes who qualify for CIF qualifying rounds (CCS Prelims, CCS Finals, State Championships) are REQUIRED to participate
Athletes who qualify for Stanford Invitational or Arcadia Invitational are REQUIRED to practice and compete. Failure to attend practice will result in scratch from future invitationals (Top 8)
The rest of the Track & Field Policies can be viewed and downloaded using the link below.
The Track & Field Schedule can be tracked using the TeamSnap Mobile App. We will invite athletes to join our TeamSnap once tryouts have concluded.
Our Track & Field Schedule can be divided into four categories:
League Meets: All athletes, Freshmen, JV and Varsity, will be REQUIRED to participate in 2-3 events (exception Pole Vault).
All Welcome Invitational: These meets have the title of "Invitational" however, all athletes, Freshmen, JV and Varsity, will be entered into 2-3 events.
Varsity Invitational: Typically the TOP 3 performers from our team will be entered into these meets. After our entries are made, each athlete must be accepted by the hosts of the meet and this is out of the coaches control. These meet may also have Freshmen or JV divisions. Only our top performing Freshmen or JV athletes will be entered into these divisions.
Elite Qualifiers: These competitions are extremely difficult to qualify for. An athlete must be one of the top performers in the country to be entered into an Elite Qualifier. These meets have a similar structure to Varsity Invitationals. Coaches will only enter our elite athletes and the meet host will accept or reject.
CIF Playoffs: There are 5 rounds of competition before the State Championships. Coaches will enter our top JV and Varsity athletes into round 1 of the playoffs, De Anza League Trials, and then the athletes performance will determine if the qualify for the next round.
Additional Information
Entry Limits: Most meets will have entry limits. Based on athletes's performance at prsctice and league meets, coaches may push for more entries. Ultimately, the decision is up to the meet hosts.
**Meet Entries will be posted at the Track Shed and on TeamSnap before each meet.

This year we will be defining the roles of people involved wuth our team more specifically!
Athletes
Athletes are expected to follow all the rules and expectations to the consequence of losing the opportunity to compete, losing their team membership and/or losing their PE credit. If athletes participate in all league competitions and maintain 70% or higher attendance they can earn a PE credit.
Team Managers
Managers will not be competing or training. Managers will be expected to attend all practices, all Home competitions and assist coaches during these times. If manager maintain their 70% attendance they will receive the PE credit. This year manager will have the opportunity to earn Varsity letters.
Team Parents
This year we are asking that a few parents to step into the roles of Team Parents! Your roles will include the following:
Organizing Volunteers for Home Meets (Gate, Concessions, Merch, Field Events)
Organizing Hospitality Rooms for Invitational Home Meets (Top 8, Freshmen Top 8, SCVAL)
Supporting Fundraising Efforts (Communications for Vertical Raise, Any new ideas)
Organizing End of Season Team Banquet
Setting Up Team Snacks and Team Camp at Varsity Invitational Meets
Los Gatos Track and Field is extremly blessed to have 9 experienced coaches on staff! Additionally, we are privleged enough to be one of few schools in our League that can contest Pole Vault on our campus due to our facilities. Considering our great staff, facilities, and equipment, Los Gatos Track and field provides a very unique experience to our Track & Field athletes. In order to maintain and continue to improve this experience we need your help to fundraise! We have the following optional opportunities to support the Track & Field Program:
Contribute $250+ Donation
Participate in Vertical Raise
Order from the Los Gatos Track & Field Merch
Volunteer as a Team Parent to brainstorm more ideas!
Coaches will be available after the meeting to chat 1-1 and meet you!
